The Death of Online Text Role-Play?

 • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 10:53 AM
Ok so, I hardly ever post here, perhaps never. But, if anyone would have the answer to my question it would have to be the world of girl_gamers. Anyway, I am slowly but surely working on a site for online text based Role-Playing. This of course is based soley on Creative writing and everything. Once I get it up and going there are going to be prizes for best post of the week and whatever else. You know, incentive for good writing. Even scholarships once I get my writing foundation off the ground.

Yea, I'm a geek for writing. But then someone told me something that had me sadly dismayed. They said, "Online Text Role-Play is dead, incase you didn't know." Is that true? Do people only get involved in MUDs and MMOs? So I suppose that is the point of my inqury to find out if people even write creatively online any more or has the art truly died and I have either missed the train or completely wasted my time?

Harley

Harley is a frisky little four month old orange tabby. His favorite hobbies are playing with milk carton tops, catching mommy’s toes, and of course tearing her curtains to shreds. Despite the torn curtains and the headaches, Harley is the best kitten, we couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Yesterday we had a little girls' night and I made those yummy little fellows for it.

(Okay, I snicked that pic from the original recipe, because my camera is not here at the moment. But mine looked just as good, promised =). )

Looking for taklent baby!!!!!

I am looking for a stunning modell to play the partt of a actres in {insert film here}
I am not a machine- infact, the only reason I put {insert film her} is because you get to chose whic film it is as long as:
-it is titanic
-it has watar
-it is funny/ a bestsellor

Obviously you have to be hott…
-Kaly

Well, obviously you have to be hot. And, you can choose any film you want, as long as it’s Titanic! Although, she may have meant her list to be an and/or list, which would mean you could also choose any film that has watar. An IMDb search reveals that there is a Japanese actor named Tetsuya Watari; perhaps Kaly would like you to choose a film from Watari’s filmography?

And then there’s another post by the same person (the same email address was listed as the reply to address), posted three minutes later in community > artists:

I need U!!!!!

RLLY!!!!
I just need ??//??//??

KTHNXS

You can see why it took her three minutes to compose this thoughtful masterpiece.

Thanks for the two ads, David!

All too common WTF

 • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 9:06 AM
So this happens disturbingly often at my call center. I think it's because we aren't allowed to disconnect a call, even when the caller is done. We have to wait for them to hang up, so sometimes we catch the start of what they do after the call. You can't imagine some of the weird shit I hear when they think they've hung up. o_O

This particular one almost always starts off the same. I'll be helping a member with their insurance question, the call goes well. They get the answer they need, they're happy, I'm happy, I do my little "thank you and please have a good day, sir/ma'am :D" ending bit. They reply just as politely, and I wait for them to hang up. Then I hear it..

... The flush of a toilet. Much, much too loud to be from another room.

I can't help it. My expression immediately turns to DDD:, and do a little grossed-out dance in my chair. All I can think of is "Oh god, so was THAT why they sounded so forced when I asked for their ID number? o_____O" *shudder!*

Thyroid?

 • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 1:12 PM
According to the doc, my depression, pale skin, cold extremities, inability to lose weight even if I damn near starve myself (not good if you have a history of anorexia BTW) may be due to a thyroid problem so I'm off to have some blood tests done.

I've never known anyone with a thyroid problem so I'm not sure whether a diagnosis here would be a good thing or a bad thing. Advice from anyone appreciated.

My friend's schoolmate is throwing her sister a birthday party & she asked me if i could make the cupcakes. LUCKY ME!
She wanted Wonder Women Theme & I've never in my baking life used fondant, edible ink, dusting dust? so i really was over my head when i agreed to this. Surprisingly, they came out pretty amazing for my first time.

Lucy is coming along nicely

 • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 7:35 PM
Not only is Lucy coming into the house all on her own, and not flinching so much, but she now is interacting with us, playing and demanding attention.

Both Lucy and Simba are improving in appearance and health. Still eating a lot more then normal, but it's slowed considerably compared to what they were doing when they first realised food was available. From 5 or more feeds a day to 2 or 3.

And for a special treat, an animated gif of Aikidomayland playing 'catch' with Lucy.

First post, Silly Outreach Antics

 • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 3:20 AM
First post! Even though I'm a lurker and I was just recently accepted in... but I volunteer with our local Dog shelter and I helped with an outreach today and had some.. fun times. By and large, it was a very good experince, but there were a few points where I was in shock.

Girl with the dog; I understand that we are parked next to the dog training center. I understand that you are working on walking your dog around other dogs without him zooming off and greeting. However, if our dog is growling and growling at yours, maybe it is a bad idea to walk. Much less five or six times and getting closer to our dog each time.

The pen is for the dog. And me when I'm sitting with her. NO NOT YOU KID GTFO OF THE KENNEL.

When I ask that one kid pet her at a time that MEANS one kid. Yes, when you pet her side and not her head, that counts too.

When the dog is backing up constantly from you and crawling onto us, its a good bet that she's scared of you. No, sticking your arm further in and trying to pet her when she's shying away doesn't help.

One lady asked us if we took puppies. We said, Yeah, if it was a stray. She says 'Oh, well, I had a litter of 12 and I didn't sell 2 of them...'
Some people need a license to breed.

Another lady decided that the dog I was handling, a border collie/terrier/heinz 57 mix named Wednesday, was the same size as the dog that she owned. So she decided to 'test' the coat she was buying for her dog on my dog. She accomplished this by throwing the coat on her and reaching down over her back to strap it on. Mind you, she didn't ask if it was okay or even let Wednesday smell her hand. She just threw and reached. And we discovered that morning that Wednesday is spooky about vests (we had to put the one she wore that day on the floor and make it a impromptu doggy food dish before she let us get near her with it), and she's people shy. :/ She was shaking and looking at me like she was scared to death. She didn't growl or bite, but I was worried that she was going to snap at her.

Short secondhand suck/wtf from a grocery store where the name fits.

Why, WHY for any reason would you go into the men's restroom,
do number two ON THE FLOOR, wipe with your underwear, and then throw the underwear ever so gently across the seat?

The was toilet paper! There was a toilet! There was a trash can! Why?!
