The Bawdy Caste had its 12th anniversary party over the weekend. I decided to make a cake featuring our logo made out of buttercream.
For comparison, here's what our logo looks like:

( And here's how it turned out )
Happy Anniversary, Bawdy Caste!

Man, nothing makes me feel fat all over again like having to order something in a size 42, aka XXL. I just have to keep reminding myself that it's Asian sizing, which is different from American.
But the good news is, I now own the first part of the Kaylee costume I'm putting together for my cast's Sci-Fi show in November! (I'm playing her as Columbia, if you're curious.)
( Isn't it shiny? )
Best part: it was 99 cents on eBay! (Plus $15 shipping, but still! MUCH better than the $70 I saw it for elsewhere!)
I'm currently bidding on a jumpsuit for her, and I know where to buy her parasol. This is probably a good time of year to get her flip-flops on sale, as well. Surprisingly, the part of the costume that seems most elusive is her shirt. But I still have two months to find it!
And yes, for floor show, I am going to rent the nearest thing I can find to her Shindig dress!

I don't remember the last time I had stress dreams about RHPS. Now I've had two within a month.
Last night was the standard stress: couldn't find parts of my costume, had trouble getting ready, was for some reason walking to the theater instead of driving, got lost, made it mere moments before the start of the show ... the result being one of those mornings where I woke up and felt like I hadn't slept a wink.
I also dreamt that I looked terribly fat in my costume, probably because a co-worker commented that I looked like I'd put some weight back on. It's true I've regained a couple of pounds since I stopped dancing, but it's not like my clothes are tight or anything! But in my dream, I stood there in my Janet bra and slip, and literally looked like Humpty Dumpty.
I wish I could figure out why these dreams are suddenly coming back now. It's getting annoying.

Man, last night was the most MESSED-UP show we've ever done.
In a good way!
( Casting from a hat and a high-speed chase )
And now, I must continue trying to remove the eyelash glue and mascara that refuse to be washed off.

So, is it completely weird that last night I dreamt I got to RHPS and had forgotten all my makeup and half my Magenta costuming? Especially since I get into costume and makeup at home?

Man oh man, what a show we had last night!
Not only did we pull in a big crowd (131!), but they were incredibly energetic! The cast feeds off the audience, and this one was delicious! Performances were spot-on, the tech crew rocked, security handled the crowd with no problem ... it was an absolute dream! It was also my third performance as Columbia, and definitely my best!
I am so proud of my Caste right now. :-)
Also, I feel a bit sorry for Honda, the Golden Labrador who is our Caste mascot. I'm pretty sure getting involved with Brad's bedroom scene was not in the job description when she went to Guide Dog training.
(Shameless plug: September 15 is Rocky Vomit Night, where we draw from a hat which character we're going to play at the start of the show! Maybe I'll actually draw one of the three characters I haven't played!)

Man, there is nothing like standing in the middle of the street in downtown San Jose, in my underwear, performing simulated sexual acts in front of a few hundred strangers, three co-workers, and my mother.
The show, however, ROCKED! It was so much fun! I want to do it again!

This is something I'm willing to bet a lot of RHPS fans have never seen (or if they have, it was on poor quality 3rd-generation videotape). I know I haven't. It's a parody of RHPS from 1980 (from the TV show "Fridays"), about Ronald Reagan and the conservatives taking over the White House. It's very well done, and still relevant today!
( Embedded videos under here )
(Of course, my first thought was, "Wow, those are good costumes!" NERD.)
Thanks

So there I was, at our Disney show, dressed as Stitch. I was in a blue hooded sweatsuit with ears sewn onto the hood, and my face was all blue with a black nose. I looked like a misshapen koala.
Since I knew removing the makeup without copious scrubbing would prove impossible, and since I'd brought no change of clothes, I left my makeup and costume on after the show. One of our security guards, Goofy (his actual nickname, not just a Disneyfied moniker), said, "Now don't get pulled over looking like that!"
I laughed. "The one time in my life that I'll get pulled over!"
( Oh, last words, how famous you are... )
Well, it could have been worse. At least I'd taken off the Elvis jumpsuit ...
