Wash and Zoe.

No, I'm not saying this because I'm a 'Firefly' geek. I'm saying it because I felt they had the most realistic marriage I've seen portrayed on TV. They weren't over-the-top lovey-dovey, but nor were they constantly sniping at each other. Theirs was neither a sitcom marriage nor a soap opera one. Instead, they were a couple who showed love and affection, and obviously - gasp! - still loved each other after more than one year of marriage. And yes, they fought, but it was realistic and not overdone.

OK, maybe it's a little bit because I'm a 'Firefly' geek.

I'm reminded of the episode in which Zoe had to choose between Mal and Wash as to which one of them would be tortured, and she chose Mal, not because she loved Wash but because she knew Wash wouldn't be able to withstand it the way Mal could. That's the kind of marriage they had--honest, practical, and unsentimental. I liked them a lot.

You mean, she chose Wash. :-)

And I think it was for both reasons, really.

She also chose to free Wash because she knew they would need him (as pilot) to stage the rescue of Mal.
